Johnny One Note?

Steve gave our first Standard of Liberty presentation recently. It was a good experience and taught us a lot about what we need to do to improve it. A few of the comments from our somewhat captive audience (we were on a cruise) were especially revealing. One woman said that she had gay neighbors who didn’t bother anybody. Another said that if all we’re going to talk about is the homosexual movement we should change the title of our presentation from “Protecting Our Freedoms.” Obviously, they somehow missed what we were trying to communicate and we have a lot of work to do.

In our defense, we took pains to include plenty of ways our freedoms are being threatened besides the gay movement. We talked about political correctness, abortion, radical feminism, the liberal media, corrupt science, corrupt education, rogue judges, the pornography industry, minority protection, and rap music, to name a few. But I do not deny that the modern radical sexual agenda dominated our presentation. And I’ll tell you why.

The gay/lesbian/bisexual/ transgender movement is probably the single most imminent danger to our constitutionally protected Freedoms, with a capital F. In other countries and here at home, this movement threatens and is already taking away our freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of expression, freedom to conduct business, freedom to refuse service, freedom to practice religious beliefs, freedom to share religious beliefs, freedom to raise our children as we see fit, and more. Perhaps the one freedom most close to my heart has to do with my Christian belief that Christ can change our very natures, hence, people with unwanted sexual tendencies can be helped and healed. The latter message is being purposely silenced. Therefore, logically, the former message is also being purposely silenced.

The far-reaching dangers inherent in the gay movement have ambushed us. I’m afraid most people don’t even see it.

The problem is, it’s not going away. The gay activist community, backed by some of the smartest, richest, most powerful and influential people and organizations in existence, is patiently going about changing our moral values, changing our laws, and passing their ideologies on to kids. Yes, kids. If you want to change a culture to fit your world view, which is what they want to do, you target the rising generation.

For a taste of what is really happening around us: A man with a private printing business in Canada was fined thousands of dollars because he refused to print gay propaganda. A couple in Vermont was sued because they merely hesitated to fully accommodate a lesbian couple’s wedding at their family-run inn where they are raising their eight children. A bill passed by the U.S. House of Representatives would if passed by the Senate and not vetoed by the President make anything anti-gay, including The Bible, hate speech punishable by law. Gay activist groups have infiltrated schools in Massachusetts with a “Youth Health Survey” including multiple choice questions about sexual feelings, experiences, and “orientation.” American Girl (the huge company that makes dolls, the AG magazine, and books for pre-adolescent girls) has affiliated itself with Girls, Inc., a national pro-abortion, pro-lesbian organization.

All through human history, such as in Hitler’s reign and in The Book of Mormon, a few lucky people in power (C.S. Lewis called them The Conditioners) can alter a culture and enslave and destroy an entire generation, even an entire civilization. Things are happening so fast SoL is focusing even more on the homosexuality issue but we’re not changing the title of our presentation. Don’t be fooled by political correctness and the gay activists’ cries of tolerance, discrimination, and civil rights. This IS about protecting our freedoms.
